If you’re a die-hard animation nut or under the age of 11, you’ll definitely be drawn to this week’s iOS app sales as most of the savings involve animation, cartoon studios or a long-standing TV series.

There’s a platformer from The Powerpuff Girls, a closer look at the works of Disney, two Cartoon Network franchises and a few rather involving board-games on offer too.

Apps

Disney Animated ($9.99, now $4.99)

Voted Apple’s iPad App of the Year 2013, Disney Animated takes you on an intimate tour of your favourite Disney movies and characters. Occupying an impressive 2GB of space on your device, the app is packed with high quality multi-layered video clips, 3D models and interactive toys. Control your favourite characters or peruse the impressive back catalogue of 54 Disney movies explored in-detail, for half-price.

Star Walk ($2.99, now $0.99)

Games

The Great Prank War ($2.99, now $0.99)

From Cartoon Network comes the official iPad app for hit show The Great Prank War. The game offers a new spin on tower defence that has you playing both offensive and defensive roles, with a host of characters and unique attributes from the show. There are four levels that cover each of the seasons, with each bringing new weather, layouts and challenges to keep you coming back for more.

Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville ($3.99, now $0.99)

Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville is an enjoyably open shooter, whether you’re a fan of the award-winning animation or not. The Powerpuff Girls’ arch nemesis Mojo Jojo is holding Townsville hostage, and you must take control of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup and teach the evil monkey a lesson. Use your powers to explore and unlock four large sprawling “Metroidvania”-style levels, filled with evil robots.

Card Wars: Adventure Time ($3.99, now $0.99)

Love Adventure Time? Enjoy card games? Rejoice – it’s your lucky day! Card Wars: Adventure Time is an AT-themed iPad app based on an episode of the same name. Take charge of an army of card-based warriors, cast spells, unleash special attacks and summon magical creatures in order to defeat foes. There’s a lot of in-app purchases, with an in-game currency system in-place, but it’s still fun regardless.

Agricola ($6.99, now $3.99)

The iPad version includes AI opponents so you can play on your own and all the multiplayer modes you could ever need – pass and play, asynchronous or online. There’s a steep learning curve but the game is full of interactive tutorials that teach you how to play as you go.

D&D Lords of Waterdeep ($6.99, now $3.99)

The second board game on this week’s list is another we have featured in the past, and though the subject matter is completely different the learning curve remains similar. This award-winning Dungeons and Dragons title has you recruiting adventurers and completing quests in order to control the city of Waterdeep. The game has been so successful it has spawned two in-app expansions, Skullport and Undermountain, each $0.99.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile ($0.99, now free)

Before you get too excited, this isn’t the Rollercoaster Tycoon we’ve all been hoping for. Instead it’s a light mobile version based on the franchise that finds itself somewhat crippled by in-app purchases. The only time I’d ever recommend it is when it’s free, which it is at the moment.

That’s all for iOS app sales this week, check back for more offers next week!
