Ever wanted to create comic strips or whole books, but lacked the skills? Horizon ($1.99, now $0.99)

Another of those “why didn’t I think of that?” apps, Horizon is a horizontal video recorder that’s designed to do one thing – force landscape video on a smartphone. Finally a solution to vertical video syndrome, Horizon also provides different video quality (depending on your device), various aspect ratios and eight filters to choose from.

Remote Mouse ($1.99, now free)

Ever wanted to use your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch as a wireless trackpad for your Mac or PC? That’s exactly what Remote Mouse does, though users need to install the free server before everything will work. Once installed the app provides full use of multi-touch gestures, media remote, an application launcher and slideshow presentation functionality.

1Password ($17.99, now $8.99)

Rejoice, 1Password are having a Heartbleed sale in the wake of last week’s big security story Heartbleed – What Can You Do To Stay Safe? Heartbleed – What Can You Do To Stay Safe? Read More . Grab it now and save yourself plenty of money, but don’t forget you’ll also need the separate Mac and Windows versions to sync!

OptimizeMe ($3.99, now free)

OptimizeMe is a lifelogging app that allows you to record, analyze and subsequently optimise various parts of your life simply by recording activity. Lifelogging is for the serious digital journal keepers What Is Lifelogging And Why Should You Do It? What Is Lifelogging And Why Should You Do It? Between Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and more, we already document and share quite a lot about our daily lives, without really thinking about it. They are lifelogs of sorts, but without any sort of structure... Read More , but that’s not to say it can’t be fun too. OptimizeMe uses a bold, colourful UI, has a field for recording absolutely everything, and comes with a personal “life coach” which provides insights based on the data you give it.

WriteRight ($2.99, now $0.99)

WriteRight bills itself as a “text editor with synonyms” that promises to improve your writing by artificially enhancing your vocabulary – not that there’s anything wrong with that. This goes a little further with the app’s ability to identify multiple-word expressions, phrasal verbs and conjugations. Add in full markdown support (what’s that, you say?) and you’ve got yourself a robust, prose-first text editor.

Games

Omicron / HD ($0.99, now free)

By far one of the best reaction games on the App Store, Omicron is a game for one or two players that will have you matching colours, eliminating tiles across three different game modes. Compete with another player on the same device and defeat foes face-to-face or work your way through both the Classic (timed, mistakes are bad) and Arcade (a little more forgiving) modes.

Field Runners 2 / HD ($2.99/$4.99, now $0.99/$2.99)

In order to celebrate their latest update, Subatomic Studios have decided to put both the iPhone and iPad versions of their incredibly well-received tower defense Field Runners 2 on sale. Scoring top marks from the likes of Toucharcade and Gamezebo, FR2 features hours and hours of gameplay, 20 unique weapons, iCloud syncing between devices, a variety of map types and cunning AI.

Quest Runner ($1.99, now free)

As you can probably tell from the screenshot above, Quest Runner is a game for RPG fans who enjoy a little humour with their levelling. Featuring epic 2D artwork and a very cheeky sense of humour, the hours of entertainment you’ll get out of this one are worth full price – but it’s currently free! Unlock new skills, earn better weapons and armour and train pets – there’s really quite a lot to do.

That should keep you busy for another week, don’t forget to check back next week for more Apps on Sale.
