Introducing MakeUseOf’s Free iPhone App

Yes. Isn’t it beautiful? I’m going to sit back and let the image do the talking for a bit.

We’ve been secretly working around the clock to get this iPhone mobile reader to be as close to perfection as possible. We’re very proud to announce that today, the application has been approved by Apple and is ready for you to download over at the App Store. But first, how about a couple more tantalising images?

Among the key features of the application are:

  • Total access to all of our articles, MakeUseOf Answers and Geeky Fun posts; perfectly formatted for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
  • The ability to browse articles by category (Windows, Mac, Linux etc).
  • Share articles with friends and family via Facebook and Twitter.
  • Add articles to Favourites for easy access.
  • Articles are downloaded once and cached locally.
  • It will cost you absolutely nothing. Like everything else on MakeUseOf, it’s free!

Now, you can carry MakeUseOf with you in your pocket. Download it from the App Store now!

As chuffed as we are, we have to admit that this application would never have materialised if not for the help we received from the professional developers over at rade | eccles. Jeremy and Shaun, we owe you a huge “Thank You!” You guys did an awesome job!

Thanks for the kind words Jackson. I hope you and your readers enjoy using the app as much as we enjoyed creating it.

I like it. I’m quite pleased that we can choose which feeds to subscribe to and that it’s easy on the eyes when I’m reading. And of course, I love that it’s free! :]

It would be better if it allowed comments to be added without visiting the full site.

I don’t even know what this is all about. I installed iTunes, went through the rigmarole of opening an account, downloaded the app, and, and, and…. Nothing….

I don’t have an iPhone or a Mac, but I download these things so I can write reviews for a few small websites, as well as my FB, so here I am.

The experiance I have had here so far says, full nerd alert! If you are anything but a full fledged, card holding nerd, don’t waste your time, unless you have plenty of time to waste on figuring out the set-up and the raison d’être. I am glad for the rest of you, but (Yawn) I’ve had better experiances in my life. I could have spent this time in bed with my wife, just cuddling, instead of figting the process of Apple registration et al.

I do thank the great programmers, and writers, etc. at Make us of, who have brought many good things my way…

      Bri,

Do you mean that say that you downloaded the iPhone app but you don’t own an iPhone; and you review apps for websites?

I will be getting this, for real. And I am not even a big collector of random iphone apps, quite the opposite, in fact. I do tend to always pick up apps from sites that I frequent, and I am a huge makeusof nerd.

Glad to hear you like it. Let us know your thoughts after giving it a try.
