INFOGRAPHIC : Tech Germs – Remember To Wipe… (Your Keyboard)

germ INFOGRAPHIC : Tech Germs Remember To Wipe... (Your Keyboard) This infographic made me take a good long hard look at my own keyboard. Especially after I read that a keyboard has about 60 times more germs than a toilet seat. Excuse me while I go and disinfect my hands thoroughly several times as well as go out and buy a replacement keyboard and a new toilet seat.

OK I’m back. It seems the germs are everywhere and are running rampant around all our houses. I am definitely never touching another lightswitch again and as for the remote control….well I am going to start getting off my lazy butt in future and changing the channel manually! And 16% of cellphones had poop on them? Up to now, I thought I had heard it all. But that statistic is right up there with 90% of US banknotes having cocaine on them. Suddenly I’m not hungry anymore for my dinner.

Let us know what you think of the infographic, brought to us today by KeepingItKleen.com. Do the stats sound right to you?  What does your keyboard look like?  Do you have the leftovers of dinner from two weeks ago hiding under the space bar? Or are you very OCD and rubber gloves when it comes to cleaning your keyboard?  Let us know in the comments.

Actually considering only 16% of cell phones were found to have poop on them I actually think that specific number is made up for the air around us is invested with poop. Just about everything we come in contact with have “fecal matter” on it in some form or another. I suggest watching the Mythbuster episode on the case of Toothbrush having Fecal Matter……even the toothbrushes kept out of the bathroom had fecal matter on it. Overall this infographic is decent info just honestly giving to much scare over proper info. It is this common interaction with bacteria that makes us healthy. If we constantly disinfect everything our bodies dont build up immunities to it and when we do get sick we will get extremely sick and our bodies will be forced to need help. I have dealt with computers almost my entire life (all of em had keyboards and mice and most of it was in a school not very clean on a global scale) and I have never been tragically sick and when I did get sick I got over it quickly not because I disinfect like a crazy nanny but because my body has built defenses against the bad bacteria. Did you also know there is good bacteria? How much of the bacteria they found on those items were good and how much was bad? Until you know this info this infographic does you no good.  In the end you have been using it this along and you are fine, get over it and accept it cause as you read this and breath you are breathing in fecal matter from the air around you. :-D Have a wonderful day with that thought in your mind.

So let me get this straight…I can’t use a dirty sock dipped in toilet water to clean my keyboard?

Actually you “can” (there are some who will actually “try” despite or inspite of the inforgraphic and even make a Facebook post about it) … but then, you “shouldn’t” :)

Well, basically it’s really hard to see that coming. I mean, literally, germs are really everywhere. But you could at least “try” to live your home in a more clean, decent and a right place to be by simply doing sanitary actions such as washing your hands correctly with soap, using alcohol to denaturize germs. I always make it a habit to be mindful of what I do. Things like eating while surfing the net, watching TV while eating popcorn and using the remote. You need to exert effort for you to keep living with the least germs because in the end you can really tell that what you do affects you.

Aren’t the people touching these things already covered in these types of germs anyway?  Doesn’t my keyboard/remote get these things from me?  Poop test the people!

Well, the truth is, you can’t avoid the spread of dirt. Sh*it happens, right? That’s why you have to clean your apartment, not just the toilet or sinks, but also door knobs, computer mice, and keyboards, too.
