Monitors comprise like 80% of the electricity used by a computer (or did, I haven't checked that for a few years) so by turning it off while you're gone, you could save a few pennies. Good article though. I'm about to leave for Europe and my dogs are staying here with visits from a pet sitter. I'll Skype them to ease my mind. :) Why would you need to leave the home monitor on?
