A friend of mine was able to trace me on his Blackberry with just a phone number and I never accepted anything. I did not accept an invite like what is required on the My Location feature on the Latitude app. I recall vaguely Latitude's introduction and the 2009 update, but where is that app that just tells you where a friend is on the iPhone with just a phone number. I guess google or someone goes out and maps the latitude and longitude of wireless access points and it will display your location that way. It's pretty accurate also, to within 300 meters.
