Thanks for your comment notmarian (and thanks for your defense gatorfan) – I’m certainly not fit-and-trim guy (although I have ever intention of becoming one again – don’t we all??) But in response to my comments regarding obese people, my comment was in reference to the fact that I would never, ever be able to disrobe and bare my rolls and jiggles on national television. The reason I can’t understand it is because I, personally, would NEVER have the courage or self-confidence to do it.

Well I thought the article was very well written. Professional writers are allowed to have an opinion and no matter what my size was, I would still continue to frequent this website. I bet if you polled those “who found it inspiring” you would still see that they are doing nothing to fight obesity. I’m not a slim and thin. I actually weigh 250 pounds and am considered obese as well. I think it is a lifestyle choice and can be rectified but people choose not to want to lose weight. Thus, I agree with the writer and his ugly personal bias.

This is very disappointing. Since obesity is an epidemic in the US, I’m surprised that a professional writer would risk alienating readers by revealing this somewhat ugly personal bias. I imagine that this television show has had a long run because of people who have this disease may find it inspiring.
