Hi, I tried this and it won't work. The scrapbook create bit works fine on both computers but I can't access the original data on the new machine. Is there something I'm missing here?

It doesn't seem to load the data at all. It's all there in the Dropbox scrapbook folder.

Thanks for the article! It sparked my interest in giving snippet sharing another try. Although I did try this using Dropbox, I ended up going with another service I already have: JungleDisk. I also found a way to integrate the exported Scrapbook tree directly into my wiki. Very useful and works like a charm!

Good article.

Regarding both Dropbox and Zotero I wrote a post the other day touching on that topic, in particular on combining them. You can read it over here: http://imakethingswork.com/lifehacks/10-browser-based-research-tools

I second Luca. Zotero, especially for academic research, is invaluable. Not only does it do lots of great things, but it is free, open source, and backed by developers who really care about making a great product.

This is very similar to Evernote. Would be interested in seeing a head to head comparison of the two.
