It appears my previous issue was a one time anomaly whew. I just had someone pay for a consult while I was offline, come back later and let me know that when they returned when I was online, they were taken to a livezilla page that asked for the name and email, then right into the chat. So I would assume than anyone who doesn't use their intial email addy will have issues but at that's solvable. Fyi everyone and thanks!

Hi Ryan, this is an awesome modification, thank you so much for your work on this. Its working wonderfully for me on my site but I did run into an issue I wonder if you could help me with:

When I am offline, and someone pays for a consult, they of course come back later when I am online. When that occurs, I had someone let me know that they are not taken into the chat even if they have already paid, but only back to the paypal page. Had you run accross this and would you have any suggestions to avoid it? If I AM online at the time of payment no issues whatsoever. Thanks:)

Thank you SOOO much for this! One thing I still don't quite understand about the setup with Paypal, I seem to have it all working just fine, but IS there a specific chat url I should put in paypal when I configure the button so they get to the chat itself? Or is just putting the button code inside paypal's button maker all that's necessary? I'm a little confused still. Thank you:)

Hi Ryan -- what you are saying actually makes a lot of sense. So you're right, they would have to be approved and I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks!

Hi Bulgin,

Thanks for your comment. I thought of that while I was writing the article, and was considering writing a script that would process the request and provide the user with a key - but then I realized that's overkill, because even if the user bypasses Paypal to enter my chat room, I still have to click on an "approve" button to accept the chat. So if the person hasn't paid, they don't get approved.

It's funny you ask this, because recently one reader did just that and when they entered LiveZilla wrote a message to me saying essentially that he managed to bypass Paypal and enter the chat for free. I had to laugh...I wonder how long it took him to realize that he wasn't actually chatting with anyone...LOL

This is good, but I see one flaw. A user can discover the URL to the chat server, click on it and thereby bypass the paypal payment.

Hi,

I find it very useful and very interesting. i always appreciate this experience sharing.

I run a website at http://www.FreeOnlineCashNow.com where I advise people on how to get free cash online with not much work. So far, the response has been crazy and I would love it if an esteemed writer like you will be able to visit it and pen some thoughts about it.

Regards,
Vinny.

Unfortunately there are not any plans for LiveZilla to be ported to Linux or Mac however you can use a Virtual Machine to run a barebones version of Windows that loads LiveZilla. I use VirtualBox for that on my Linux machines.

my machines dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows 7. The VM is the same across all of the OS's. I have it in a VM so I can use the same installation of LiveZilla on any computer and any OS I may be running at any given time.

Yes - thought of that when I was writing the article and was going to try to come up with a unique password approach for each session, but then I realized that when a person requests a chat, you - the support person - have to accept the call. If no one has paid for the session, then you just decline the call.
