		<description>You mean the Blackberry is a "closed platform."  Windows Mobile is also "closed source," in the sense that you have to sign an NDA and fork over money to see the source code.  But it is, like most Microsoft products, an "open platform" which is intended to allow third parties to build innovative applications on top of it.  Blackberry is closed platform, and iPhone is mostly-closed-platform.

Many journalists don't understand this distinction, and blithely go around writing about how such-and-such-an-innovation was "only possible because of the open-source revolution."  Where did they Photoshop came from?  Fully sprung from the brain of Steve Jobs?</description>
