You can assign any email address to your Google account. However, if you have a gmail address the account will always default to this address.

I have disabled GMail on my Google account. Therefore Google Reader uses my Apps domain because that is the only address it has!

The only problem I have come across is using the Google Homepage and some other applications that look for a GMail address and can't find one. Usually I just sign into Google using my Apps address and password.

Well I have themes!

As for Google Reader, you can just access Google Reader at its normal URL and still use your old Gmail address.

Not in the free standard version. You would need to upgrade to the business version for that.

If you want to send out such a huge email letter, you are probably better bypassing Apps and using an email subscription service instead. We've covered one in the past. YMLP allows up to 1000 subscribers and is free.

When I checked Labs in Google Apps, everything was there that Gmail also had. I couldn't find anything missing.

Obviously if they bring out something new, there's no guarantee that they will rush it out in Apps. That's why it's good to keep your old Gmail address to test out Labs features not in Apps.

But right now everything appears to be there.

I can send 500 emails in one day, perfect for emails. I would like to send a newsletter to more than 500 addresses and gmail doesn't allow that. Any work arounds to that without a paid upgrade?

Are there still the restrictions on Apps and experimental (Labs) options in Gmail? I tried Apps about a year ago but it wouldn't allow me to use any of the GLabs stuff in Gmail. Apps is handy but the new-released features of Gmail won out for me.
