One of the coolest features of iOS 6 is the Facebook integration. The iPhone and iPad is fully loaded with features that benefit Twitter users, but for people who only use Facebook, they are kind of out of luck. Once iOS 6 rolls around, that will be solved, but if you have a jailbroken iOS device, you can have some awesome Facebook integration right now.
Facebook is the most popular social network, so I know there are plenty of iOS users who wish they could get the same benefits as Twitter users. It seems odd to me that Apple did not add Facebook integration into iOS right from the beginning, but as with anything that Apple misses, the jailbreakers are happy to come in and add the features. Without further delay, take a look at these easy to use tweaks that are designed to integrate Facebook into iOS.
This incredible tweak is designed to integrate Facebook into the default iOS Photos app. It is the quickest and easiest way to add photos to Facebook. You are already browsing pictures in the Photos app, so why not upload them to Facebook directly from there?
FacebookThis is available via the BigBoss repo on Cydia. All you need to do to download and set the app up, is click “Install” on Cydia and wait for it to finish downloading. Once it is finished, it will prompt you to respring your device.
When you click the Share button on an image in the Photos app, a button labeled “Facebook” will be added. Simply click that and your image will be shared in a Facebook status. Sharing a photo on Facebook does not get any easier than FacebookThis.
The first time you share an image you will have to authorize it with Facebook. It will take you through the steps automatically, so it is incredibly easy. Just keep in mind that the first time you share an image it will take you a few extra seconds to get everything set up.
I wrote a detailed breakdown of how to get Fusion up and running on your device, so I will skip that for now and just remind you of what Fusion is.
Fusion allows you to compose a Facebook, Foursquare, MySpace and Twitter message right from iOS. It also integrates with Siri, so you can post a status update from there, whether it is to Facebook, or one of your other social networks. It is an awesome tweak for anyone who that wants Facebook integration in iOS and does not want to wait for iOS 6.
This tweak offers a slew of options for messing around with the default Facebook app, but the ones I am going to focus on is the integration with YouTube.
With the YouTube Integration, can click the “Share Video” button and you will gain two new share options. The first one is called “Facebook Status” and this is the important one. With this, you can quickly share the video on Facebook quickly and easily.
Setting it up is easy enough, but you might get a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available. You will need to go to the default Settings app and scroll down to “Customize Facebook” to get everything set up.
Once on the settings page, scroll about a third of the way down until you see “More YouTube.app Share Options.” There is a setting called “Share via FB Status” that will be off by default. Turn this on, respring your device and you will be ready to start sharing YouTube videos as Facebook status updates.
Can you not wait for iOS 6 to get your Facebook integration? Well with these Cydia tweaks, you do not have to. They are easy to use, and they will give you some core iOS Facebook features without waiting until iOS 6 hits the market.
