Really good description! But manual geotagging is hard work. Some cameras are GPS-ready. They can recieve GPS information and directly write it directly into the JPEG/RAW header (EXIF Metadata). If the camera doesn’t geotag photos, the geotagging action is very easy with the new Picasa 3.5. Goodbye GeoSetter, you’ve been very useful in the past but you’re no more necessary!

I agree that it's best to have your photos geotagged before putting them on Panoramio. Check out my iPhone app GeoLogTag that turns your iPhone into a GPS data logger while you take photos with your point&shoot or DSLR camera. GeoLogTag also assists in geotagging your photos.
