Highlight The Web And Send It To All Your Friends

Jul. 12th, 2008 By Karl L. Gechlik

The Awesome Highlighter is actually exactly what it says it is. It is awesome and it is a highlighter. What they leave out from this product’s name is how awesome it really is. T.A.H. (The Awesome Highlighter) lets you mark up the web like it was a second hand text book.

I hear your grumbling….yeah yeah yeah you can highlight the web so what. How is that going to help me later or how can I send my friends to my marked up page? Well T.A.H. has it all under control. You simply visit The Awesome Highlighter and start your browsing from there.

After typing in an URL and hitting that Highlight Page button you will be taken to your web page that you can mark up like you will see in the screenshot below. I have chosen this website TOTALLY at random… Honest :)

I highlighted some text above and then clicked the ‘Add A Note’ button on the top toolbar and it lets you add any text you want to this annotated page. You can see the text I entered here. You can choose the color of your highlighter and if you haven’t noticed we DON’T HAVE TO REGISTER (OH YEAH!)

OK so now I have marked the page up and added my own note to it on to how we can send it to someone else. Just go ahead and click on the Big Yellow DONE button at the top of your toolbar and you will be taken to the next page.

As you can see it has cut out the highlighted part and created a tiny url for you to use. You could also post it directly to your blog or Twitter account from here. When anyone clicks this shortened URL they will go to the exact page you marked up. They can also see your clever Sticky Note placement as well as any highlighting you have done. Check out my marked up page here.

I can think of a whole bunch of uses for this such as collaboration projects, sharing articles with a personal touch and many others.

What would you use this for? Do you love it or hate it?

No really what do I have to do to start a discussion around here?

I would use it to show my friends the main details of any gaming news I get. This is very, very useful. :D

In theory, it’s useful. But it didn’t work for me — tried it in IE and Opera.
