When I open the torrc file, I don't see what you said, only that (and the torrc.orig.1 is not better):

# This file was generated by Tor; if you edit it, comments will not be preserved
# The old torrc file was renamed to torrc.orig.1 or similar, and Tor will ignore it

# If set, Tor will accept connections from the same machine (localhost only)
# on this port, and allow those connections to control the Tor process using
# the Tor Control Protocol (described incontrol-spec.txt).
ControlPort 9051
HashedControlPassword
xx:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
# Where to send logging messages. Format is minSeverity[-maxSeverity]
# (stderr|stdout|syslog|file FILENAME).
Log notice stdout

I've tried Tor, and it's working, though it's quite slow, but I don't have any expierence using "proxies", so I can't tell if Tor is faster (I chose the 3 highest bandwith open doors as fingerprints).
I can't get Hulu or CBS to convince I've got the latest flash installed though, so haven't been able to watch any shows.
I'm from Europe, so I'm interested to try these tricks out, as long as it isn't time consuming, so this article was very helpful to get started with Tor, thank you.
Any other means/uses for Tor that would be interesting? (haven't explored it by myself yet, too many other chores to do ATM).

With the right nodes, this ought to go faster than most proxies.

I prefer simply using Proxy rather than this. I tried this months ago and found it too slow. I don't need 100% annoymity.
