The really good applications tend to cost money, and a lot of people are not willing to drop the big bucks on apps. Of course, some of those apps really are worth the cost of admission, especially if you are the kind of iOS user who loves to use their device as their primary camera. The iPhone has a good camera, but to really make photos stand out, you need a good app to support it.

An example of a photo editing app that is done right is called HDR FX Pro. It comes with a lot of options for editing your HDR photos and making them pop. It’s easy to use, and it comes with all the options you need to make your photos something special.

Best of all, you can grab the app free from the App Store for a limited time. It normally sells for $1.99, so this is your chance to get a great app without spending a dime. Don’t wait though, because it will go back to its full price before you know it!

When you first launch the app, you will be taken to a screen with three buttons. The first is a camera, and from here, you can take a new photo to edit. The second option is your camera roll and Facebook, which allows you to choose a photo you’ve already taken to edit. The last is an information button, in here you can see a manual and tutorial to help you better understand how to use the app.

Once you’ve either taken or chosen a photo to edit, you will be taken to the screen where you can crop the image. Then, you are taken to the screen to apply basic filters. They are divided up into three sections, and each will let you improve your photos.

Once you click a basic filter, you will be taken to a preview screen. To move on from this and edit the photo, simply click the “Edit Photo” button. The next screen will let you tweak and fine tune every aspect of the image. There are six different types of edits you can make to the photo ranging from color levels and blending all the way down to basic frames and borders. Pretty much anything you could want to do to make your photo pop is in this app.

Most of the editing options are customizable, so you can drag and edit them to adjust how much it changes the photo. This allows you to take control over the images and make them look exactly how you want.

When you’re done editing and playing with your photo, click the disk icon on the top right of the screen to save it. You can save to the image to your camera roll, other photo editing apps, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr.

If you are looking for a photo editing application that does more than just apply simple filters, and borders, HDR FX Pro is the app for you. Sure, it has those basic filters and borders, but it does a lot more to make your photos truly stand out. Best of all, you can grab it free from the App Store for a limited time! Don’t wait, because it will go back to $1.99 before you know it.

Thanks for the article, Dave! I used to use the free version, which is and was great, but eventually, I changed up my workflow with my photos and started doing more minimalistic edits. But when you want to get just a little deeper but not go all pseudo-Photoshop, this app is an excellent middle ground.

What's different in the "pro" version vs the free one?
