Grooveshark recently launched an HTML5 version of their popular music player. With this new web app, you can get access to Grooveshark’s massive library of music from your mobile device without downloading an app or paying any kind of monthly subscription fee.
Of course, Grooveshark has gone through an interesting history on mobile devices. They were banned by Google and Apple, and unable to keep apps on either platform. They moved over to the jailbreak side with a Cydia app, but that limited their potential audience a great deal. Now, this web app is available to the masses, and because it runs in your browser, there is not much mobile platform holders can do to shut them down.
The app has some awesome features that new and old Grooveshark users will appreciate. You can get access to any playlists you have made on the desktop version of Grooveshark. Plus, you can access your entire collection and search through Grooveshark’s 15 million song catalog.
You can also use this app to get access to Grooveshark’s genre-based radio stations. This is great for those times when you cannot decide on a particular song or artist.
In our tests with the web app, the layout was easy to navigate, songs loaded quickly, and it seems to be a well made app. This is something that any music lover who does not want to pay a monthly subscription should check out.
