Google Supports Startups With The Launch Of Google For Entrepreneurs [Updates]

If we rewind back, Google is an entrepreneurial success story. Google wants to tap into the wellspring of innovation and the creative spirit with the official launch of Google for Entrepreneurs. The program hopes to be the common strand that ties in its several dozen programs and partnerships around the world that support startups and entrepreneurs.

Google says that there are approximately 400 million entrepreneurs across 54 countries, and 69 million early-stage entrepreneurs offering new products and services. This huge segment could benefit from all of the tools and guidance that Google can provide.

Google says in its blog that the focus is three-pronged:

  • Partnerships with strong organizations that serve entrepreneurs in local communities.
  • Google-led programs to bring Google teams and Google tools directly to entrepreneurs.
  • Placing relevant Google tools in the hands of startups as they are getting off the ground and ready to scale.

The program is worldwide and Google is celebrating its 14th birthday by lighting the flame of entrepreneurship as it hosts the first annual Google for Entrepreneurs Week, which will bring together more than 3,000 entrepreneurs and Googlers around the world. More events are on around the world and you can catch more updates on the Google for Entrepreneurs page. Google believes that the same ideas which made it a success story, could help to transform the world through other startups and their innovative solutions.

Does Google really need to do any? In the end, if their work benefits society in general, then all the better. And you will also agree, Google has changed the world and the way we “see” it in more positive ways than negative :)

wish Google would do all these things in India, where such initiates are much required.

Oh, it is very much there in India. Look into this – http://www.google.com/entrepreneurs/initiatives/weow.html

In fact, yesterday the Google Gurgaon office hosted an afternoon of leading entrepreneurs in a panel discussion promoting web entrepreneurship in India.

This is a great idea, if it pans out properly. Google has the know how and the clout to be very helpful on the grassroots level, but will it play out?

Google is playing at all levels and making a difference. Whatever naysayers might say about commercial intentions, If all companies did it, the world would be a better place.

Is there any other initiatives similar to this one ?
I know there is Microsft Bizspark for instance.

It will be great if MUO prepares a nice handy list for new start-ups and entrepreneurs.
