Arguably the best navigation service in the world just got better as a new update for Google Maps improves how you get directions to places. We have already shown you 10 navigation tips to get to your destination faster, but some of the new features seem to make it even easier.
One of the most requested features, directions for multiple destinations, lets you add a starting point and click the plus sign to add stops on your route by clicking on the map or typing in the search box.
There are already ways by which you can travel smarter with Google Maps, but the new drag-and-drop function takes this up a notch. “When you’re exploring a new city, find the best way to museums, historic squares, and other attractions by dragging and dropping your destinations in the order that works for you,” Google says in a blog post. As always, the Views carousel can be used to check out Street View, Photo Tours and more.
Much like Google Now, the new Google Maps has quick-look information cards. For example, search for your airport and Google Maps will show your departure information. Or search for a restaurant and you’ll find your reservation information. Of course, this requires you to be signed into Google.
Without signing in, you can still find out event-related information for popular venues on Google Maps. For example, searching for the O2 Arena and clicking on Upcoming Events will show you a schedule of all the concerts happening there.
As with all Google updates, these features should be rolling out to all devices and countries slowly, so if you can’t yet access them, be patient. Until then, you can learn how to use Google Maps like a boss.
