Reviews have been a part of the Android Market for as long as I can remember, but browsing them hasn’t always been easy. A lack of review filters meant that users can only read reviews in chronological order, which was more than a little inconvenient.
That’s finally changed. Users browsing the web-based Android Market can now sort reviews by rating and helpfulness as well as post date. Homing in on reviews with a specific star rating is also possible – handy for apps with numerous 4 and 5-star reviews and many 1-star reviews.
Better still, it’s possible to sort reviews by the device the reviewer was using. This will save you a lot of trouble if you’re reading reviews to see if an app runs well on your Android.
It’s not all good news, however. You won’t find any of these new filters in the Android Market app. Browsing reviews on your device still leaves you with chronological order as your only option.
Hopefully a coming update with bring the same functionality to the app itself. Handy though the web store may be, it would be strange to limit this feature only to the store that isn’t accessible on your Android.
