Many tech geeks remember the Flip Mino. Before smartphones were the thing, Flip devices dominated portable video recording, allowing us to capture 720p video in the easiest way possible.
Now, the developers of Flip Video are making a comeback with Givit. As a free download on the App Store, Givit lets you shoot and store videos for sharing. Users get a 5 gigabytes of free space, which you can use to shoot, edit, and combine clips.
Givit brings back the easy-to-shoot and easy-to-save interface that have worked for them in the past. It also lets you add motion effects, music, and transitions, much like a lite version of iMovie. You can also go back to your favorite scenes using the highlight option, handy for searching through thousands of clips. Once done, you can share through Facebook, YouTube, or email.
Givit also has paid options for increased storage space, although the free account is more than enough to get you going.
The market for instant video sharing is still at play, and Givit is one of the contenders. Time will tell if it can make a dent on iPhone users, but with their prior expertise working with Flip devices, they have a good chance as anyone.
