GiddyUp – An Easier Way To Plan A Social Event With Your Friends [iOS & Android]

GiddyUp_IconLogoPlanning an event with your friends can sometimes be incredibly excruciating. You have probably experienced it. Your friends try to arrange an event in a long email thread, which makes it usually messy to go back and find the event details, while some people simply aren’t as good replying promptly, if at all. Creating a Facebook event is also fairly common, but I know people who refuse to use Facebook, or don’t ever respond to an event invitation. Most people I know simply call to share an invitation, but if plans change, they have to call or text back, making it all but a straightforward process. All of these methods are painfully slow and inefficient.

Enter GiddyUp, a free, dedicated event-planning app that combines Facebook events and Group.me group chat, and aims to make event planning as seamless as it can be. Not only does GiddyUp tackle one common problem, it does it in an intuitive, efficient and time-saving app that is available for iOS and Android (not available for UK residents at the moment unfortunately), though it can also be useful to non-smartphone owners.

Here is a great video demo that quickly introduces what GiddyUp is all about in two minutes.

GiddyUp is a great, simple way for planning movie nights, group dinners, and more. As the event creator, you download the app and can get an event planned in no time. The friends you are inviting can either download the same app (which will make event-planning from that point on super simple for you and for them if they ever want to create an event), or receive a text message with links to a mobile landing page with your event details.

With GiddyUp, all you need is to invite people from your phone’s contact list. You don’t even need to know exactly where your impromptu night out will take place. Of course, if you have those details, including a picture, date and time, notes, you can easily type them in when you are creating your event.

Once you input all the details for your awesome event, the contacts you invite will get notifications to see your event. This is what they might get if they downloaded the app.

If your friends do not download the app, they will be led to a mobile landing page that can be viewed in their mobile browser.

As you can see, RSVP-ing to the event is a matter of tapping on one of the three options, In, Maybe, or Out. You will be able to keep track of who is going, is a maybe or is not showing with the attendance tracker.

One of the cool features of this app is the ability to chat with your friends in case you want to poll event detail preferences, or simply stay in touch.

With all these neat features, you’ll probably eventually use GiddyUp to create more and more events, all of which you can see stacked nicely with notifications in your GiddyUp homepage.
