Read More to the things you watch the most, the app is able to discern the shows you like, and create a guide that works for your tastes.

The app also has a new recommendation engine that can help you find the best things to watch that are currently on. For users who turn their television on and mutter “there’s nothing to watch”, this feature should prove quite useful to you. Because the app has a ton of users, it has a good knowledge base to actually determine what is popular and what other lovers of the app are watching.

The new update also adds clips, articles, and photos to go with your favorite shows. This makes it more than just an app to check in to what you are watching. Now, it’s a complete tv and movie application with everything you need contained within.

The ability to check in to what you are watching has been cleaned up and streamlined. However, the app used to have the ability to check in to things like video games and other forms of media, but in an attempt to narrow the focus of the service, it now only features the ability to check in to TV, movies and sports.

Did you use GetGlue for more than just TV, movies and sports? Will you miss the ability to check in to other types of media? Let us know in the comments section below!

I have to say I am disappointed with the latest iOS update of GetGlue. I not only love the movie, tv and sports updates, I loved seeing what some of my music friends were listening to, and I know that other people love seeing what I listen to. I feel the pain that some of the others here have mentioned. :(

Will probably be taking it off the phone now...although I do watch TV, sports and movies that presents a passive, limited life.

From the sounds of things, you are not the only one.

All you need to do is look at the apps rating on iTunes it's dropped to like a two or three since the update. My frustrations mirror those of many users. The thing that kept people comming to GG was not the stickers (many users never received or ordered them) it was the community. You would find movies, books and music you may never have been interested in from people you had discussions with on other things. And the discussions, that was what the app was about for me. I could talk to people about what I was watching or reading. At 3 am when I couldn't sleep I could check into insomnia and know I wasn't the only one who was suffering.

Take a look at the blog on get glues page the company head says all the changes are for the users despite their unanomouse decent. His response to one poster is "Yes sorry" not exactly user friendly when the person laments the loss of functions and options. On Twitter there seems to be a "form letter" response to any tweet questioning the change. My tweet in response to issues with the app crashing was never addressed.

Like some users I have reverted back to the old mobile site that has all the check in options if that stops being an option I'll be done. Since it seems GG is more interested in sponsor money and being second screen king (they may find it hard when there users start leaving in droves

Sadly, Alex Iskold (GetGlue CEO) prefers to make GetGlue into just another "second screen" TV/Movie app like Miso, Into_Now, ..., ... (into the BEST "second screen" app obviously, but still, the "king" of that narrowly focused, somewhat crowded mountain), rather than realizing that what he already has is it's very own "mountain of one" (and ALREADY ranks pretty high on that "second screen" mountain, as well.)

No other app is paying attention to the full spectrum of things that people do in their spare time... TV and movies, sure, but people read, play music or games, and think about things...and they want to share THOSE experiences too...and they have been for a long time on GetGlue. (To be clear, there are other narrowly focused apps and sites for books, music, and topics, but GetGlue is (or was) the ONLY one to serve everyone and all of those interests together in one place, so that a user could share both his/her love of the TV show "Community," and talk about knitting (or coffee, or sleeping, or ...) with the same GetGlue friends...) And many of us believe that the full spectrum free time "life" app that GetGlue has always been (as opposed to being just another second screen) is worth fighting for and saving, if at all possible...

I love GetGlue for allowing me to check into things like video games and books. Being in Australia means that many of the tv show stickers are not relevant and a lot of their stuff is very focused on the US market. I think it's a shame that they're moving away from supporting things like reading and gaming, especially when other apps offer the exact same functionality and this was a good point of difference for GetGlue.

Megga kudos! I was just showing the updates to my husband this morning! It used to be just a fun social app, but now it's also a fantastic way to keep up (LIVE too) with your favorite movies/TV shows. Not only do they show you which of your favorite shows are on/coming on, but they tell you the name and description of each one! Also, one feature that I ADORE is the reminder option. If I look at the "guide" section and see that "30 Rock" is coming on in a few hours, it has the option to remind me later on. Seriously, I can't imagine this app NOT getting a major trending boost in the very near future.

Glad you are enjoying the update. It's getting mixed reviews, but it's nice to see someone with a positive perspective.
