As the amount of data we create on a daily basis continues to skyrocket, it is only appropriate for cloud storage to follow suit. Many online backup solutions now offer one terabyte of space, but if you have more than one computer, that probably isn’t enough.

In contrast, Genius Rescue gives you a whole 2TB of storage space, with automatic sync between devices. Through MakeUseOf Deals, you can currently grab a lifetime subscription for just $49 (usually $14.95 a month). Here’s a closer look at what you get.

Genius Rescue

After installing the Genius Rescue app, you simply select which folders or drives you want to be backed up. You get unlimited bandwidth for uploading files, with no speed limits, and everything is protected by military-grade AWS 256-bit encryption. The service will happily deal with all file formats, and you can stream music and movies straight to your phone, or access your files on any computer via the web portal.

Your files are also synced across all the computers that have Genius Rescue installed. This is obviously useful for working with multiple devices, and only made more so by the fact that the service keeps 30 previous versions of each file. You can restore deleted files, too.

Friendly support is on hand to help you with any issues that may arise.

Limited Time Price

The current deal wipes 96 per cent off the usual price of Genius Rescue cover. To get lifetime access to this full-featured backup service, head over to MakeUseOf Deals now — but hurry, this deal is only on this week!

decided to make the purchase, have not received a code for the license after several hours. Also their 24/7 customer service is fictional, submitted a question over 10 hours ago no response, their website actually says "send us an email and we will respond within 24 hours" kind of regretting this purchase sometimes "too good to be true..." usually is... if anything will see what happens over the next day or two and worst case will cancel the order.

Any kind of "lifetime" deal -- it would be much more helpful if MUO could tell us more about the company behind the deal -- and not just dive into app installation, usage, and all that.

Oh wait - this is an ad/promo piece! My bad.

So, as with any ad, the usual warning applies: caveat emptor - buyer beware.

You can only restore deleted files up to 30 days (this is very scary). Versioning is only for 30 versions, which could be a few days of edits on a doc, spreadsheet, etc. Completely ineffective for people who really do things on their computer as opposed to the streaming only crowd.

Sure it uses AWS on the back-end, but who is this company? Why haven't we heard of them before? Anyone notice they don't have any reviews when doing a quick Google search? What's the OS support and why isn't it right on their website?

$49 for 2TB of lifetime storage greatly devalues their product. Compare their monthtly pricing on their website to CrashPlan's family plan ($149.99/year, 10 computers, unlimited storage, PC/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android). Crashplan has unlimited versioning (if configured this way) and never removes deleted files (default config, can be changed). I could go on and on.........

    No. Thank. You.

I Would Not Trust A Site That Gives You A 404 Error On The Very First Link Of Their Home Page.

      Maybe It Is Just Me.

They replied me that mobile app has chromecast support. According to you, it could work with mkv audio? As Plex, in which there is a sort of transcoding for format not supported by chromecast
