While the AM3+ socket doesn’t have much life left, $159.99 for FX-8320 is a good deal. It offers extremely good performance in multithreaded applications, such as Adobe Premiere CS6. It runs at 3.4 to 4.0 GHz, although falls behind Intel’s offering in single threaded performance.

The Black Edition of CPU from AMD offers an unlocked multiplier, meaning it can be overclocked.

From the various reviews I’ve seen, it offers fantastic value. Its current per-gigabyte pricing is the best I’ve seen this week at around 42 cents-per-gigabyte. It also offers AES-128 encryption, making it one of the few budget SSD drives to support such a feature.

Tiger Direct sells the same model, for $74.99, however, it comes with a $70 rebate.

My favorite deals this week are all system components. I didn’t see that many good deals in other areas, outside of Apple products. On the positive side, SSD prices continue to tumble. While the PNY XLR8 offers a low-cost drive with quality internal components, a lot of other drives remain competitive in pricing-per-gigabyte.

That’s it for this week folks! Check back next week for the same great deals!
