Well, it isn't promised to be released at any particular time, as it is still a late-alpha game (Which you can purchase right now), Kerbal Space Program!
More stable than many AAA games, so much to do....nearly 800 hrs in a little over a year since I bought it...And still going.
Jebidiah, Bob and Bill will consume your life.....and it's a good thing...
KSP rocks and has an amazing mod community. (Yes a large vibrant mod community for an unreleased game...a bit counterintuitive.)
Bring your best PC, cause you will need it!

What is it about that game that has you excited? Is it pure nostalgia or something more than that?

None. That's not what I built, then bought, a computer for. I don't play golf either.

I guess you comment on golfing websites too then. You know, to inform them you have no interest in the activity.

      Dear Mr. Parrack,

No sir, I don't comment on golfing websites. They've never asked me to participate in surveys as makeuseof does. I don't knock golf, it made me some pocket money in the early 60's. There was a golf course next to a property I had permission to access. I would go out 2-3 times a week and collect the balls that had been hit onto the property and selling them back to the golfers. Half of the money went to charity. Please keep in mind that not every computer user is an avid game player. In the beginning of the computer era games were useful in helping new users get over their fear of using and maybe breaking the computer.

I understand not every computer user is a gamer. This discussion was meant for those who are gamers. Video games are more popular now than they have ever been, so it's not as though this question was aimed at a niche audience.

I apologize if my comment came across as harsh, but I just couldn't understand why someone not into games would answer a question about games they were looking forward to playing! Hopefully there will be a question in coming weeks that will be better aimed at you :)

      Dear Mr. Parrack,

I not a avid game player. I do play solitaire when my computer is getting organized when I first sign on or am doing backups to spend time until I have to finish the rest. Solitaire is part luck, strategy, and card counting.

If there were a game that involved setting up a disaster communications station with fixed resources and all kinds of impediments thrown at me, I'd play it avidly. Some might call it a simulation. It would still be a game where you score points by accomplishing goals.

No apologies are necessary for speaking your mind, as I did mine. When you fish in a big pond like makeuse of, you never know what might bite your bait.

I am personally excited for an eventual Dishonored sequel and/or a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I would also accept a remake of the original Deus Ex. That said, Dishonored is my favorite game of all time.

    • Dave P
      February 24, 2014 at 9:54 am

Dishonored was a class game, and a sequel has to be in the works, right?! The developer is working on a new title, but it hasn't yet been revealed whether it's Dishonored 2 or a new IP.

Are you looking forward to any games that have been announced for 2014?

Do yourself a favor and buy a PS4 or Xbox One. They'll be around for a good 10 years, so the outlay can be justified!

NEW games? None. The gaming industry has done a magnificent job of destroying my enthusiasm for new titles. As a PC gamer, I have my choice of crappy copy protection schemes and disagreeable content delivery options, most of which just give me the ability to play games that run just as well on a $200 Xbox because they're terrible console ports in the first place.

I more or less have to cross my fingers that the games that seem the most interesting will show up on or as Humble Bundle titles, or go prowling Android app stores for things that might be interesting.

But, OK, I loved City of Heroes. I beta tested City of Heroes. I maintained a subscription to it for as long as it existed. Now it is gone, but some folks ran a Kickstarter campaign last year to build a proper successor, called City of Titans. I have no idea whether the seed money they raised will amount to anything like a working game, but I'm at least keeping tabs on its development.

I have decided not to buy any more games or bundles until I've played a few more of the games that I already have. I'll occasionally make an exception, such as for the (highly disappointing) Tomb Raider game last year.

When I saw the Titanfall announcement footage, I knew it would be something special. Now that I've played the beta, I'm convinced of it. I don't even remember the last time I've loved a game this much.

The titans feel properly heavy, but they're also easy to maneuver. The pilot movement is more fluid than Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia combined, the weapon balancing is perfect, and the levelling is nicely paced. Literally the only thing that could be improved is the matchmaking, which currently does things like pitting 4 players against 6 in a last man standing match.

All of this combined means that Titanfall is the game that I'm most looking forward to, and will probably be the one and only game I buy this year.

      February 20, 2014 at 1:52 pm

You didn't like the new Tomb Raider? How come?

Pfft, being a PlayStation man, I'm envious when it comes to Titanfall. It's not good enough to justify me buying an Xbox One, surely.

    • Tom W
      February 21, 2014 at 3:07 pm

The new Tomb Raider was one of the best cover shooters that I've ever played, but it wasn't a Tomb Raider game.
Part of it is that the areas felt too linear, despite being bigger than in previous games. Mainly though, the puzzles were boring. The only real puzzles were the tombs, but they didn't challenge me for more than a couple of minutes each. The tombs were also set aside from the rest of the game, and weren't required for the story line, which made them feel like a list-minute addition to keep traditional fans happy.
The story was pretty good, but it was inconsistent with the gameplay. One minute Lara would be crying over killing a wolf in a cutscene, and the next minute she would be happily gunning down human enemies in the gameplay.

I used to be a PlayStation man, but I've barely played on my PS3 since I bought it. I upgraded my PC last year, and I use it for the majority of my gaming right now. It plays pretty much any game at decent frame rates, including Titanfall. As for buying an Xbone just for Titanfall... probably not, but I will say that I have more fun playing Titanfall than I have with any game in a very, very long time, and that's saying something considering that FPS isn't my usual genre of choice.

    • Dave P
      February 24, 2014 at 9:51 am

That makes sense. This Tomb Raider was a reboot for a new generation that didn't necessarily play the old games. But for those of us who did the change in style will be hard to take. I haven't played it yet but I'm planning to do so, despite the qualms!

That's the thing, Titanfall looks like out-and-out fun, which is all I ask for in games. Must. Resist. Buying. Xbox One.

    • Tom W
      February 24, 2014 at 3:01 pm

Titanfall will be out for the Xbox 360 a bit later than on PC or Xbone. Buying a used 360 would be a cheaper option than buying into the next generation.
