TechCrunch’s MG Siegler found the app while snooping through the iPhone app’s code. While Siegler does not provide specific details about the method he used to unlock the app, he does provide screenshots and cryptically states that users can access only “if you don’t mind doing some things you’re technically not supposed to do with your iPad”.
The polished state of the app indicates that it is nearly done and could be released within weeks or even days. The screenshots show a sleek, refined interface that has all the functionality one expects from the site including features like the Chat sidebar added to the website in recent months. Siegler reports that “the navigation system is great” and praises the use of overlay menus and the inclusion of an excellent photo viewer.
Facebook has yet to officially reply to the finding. TechCrunch reports they’ve spoken with “a source” who states that the app uncovered is the real iPad app and will be released shortly.
