Would you like to turn your Android phone into a Wifi hotspot without rooting your phone? If you are interested, then you should check out Foxfi. This simple Android app turns your phone into a Wifi hotspot without the need for a root or a tethering plan.

turn android phone into a wifi hotspot

Using Foxfi is very simple. Just open the app and click to activate the hotspot. You can set the name of your network and a password if you wish. You can also turn on Bluetooth mode so that you can tether your Internet to Bluetooth enabled devices.

Foxfi works with computers, consoles, or any appliance with a Wifi connection.  However, it runs only on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, so you are out of luck if you are running any other version. Still, this tool is a great way to get over the restrictions of carriers, while getting an easy-to-setup Wifi hotspot for your phone.

  • Turn Android into a free wifi hotspot without rooting.
  • Works with bluetooth.
  • Works only with Ice Cream Sandwich.
  • Connect from any computer or tablet.

I was wondering if this means you don't have to pay for a tethering plan.

I also have a Droid 4 running ICS (4.0.4) and I was able to launch the hot spot and connect to it without issue.

It will be a nice back up plan in case of emergencies.

I have a Droid 4 running ics. I don't believe foxfi is working any longer. I get an error code "no internet connection." I think we were outfoxed again (no pun intended)
