Never Forget To Pay Another Bill Again With Bills ~ On Your Table + Giveaway

Just a few days ago, our friends over at PoweryBase launched their new app, Bills ~ On your table. I’ve had the good fortune to participate in the beta testing of this application and played around with it a little. First impressions? There’s nothing else like it.

Bills ~ On your table is an iPhone application that was designed for the sole purpose of tracking your bills and their due dates; wrapped in a gorgeous interface. Basically, it provides a little sanity in an otherwise insane world of bill payments.

And that’s not all, PoweryBase had courteously provided us with 3 promo codes to give away to our readers. Read on to find out more.

Like NotifyMe, Bills ~ On your table (let’s call it Bills, for short) requires you to create an online account in order to use it. While some people might find it a bit of a hassle, it’s actually quite useful. Firstly, it provides you with an online copy of your bills as a backup. Secondly, it offers an alternative method of entering your bills into the database. If you’re just starting to use this application, you may not feel comfortable typing in all of the details with your iPhone — so the online interface is a great solution.

Once you’ve created an account and logged into it, you’ll be greeted by Bills’ main page. Here’s where you’ll get a general overview of what’s happening — bills that are due, overdue, due soon, and those that will be due in the next 30 days.

There are two other modes of viewing. The calendar view spreads outs your bills over their respective due dates. You can also sort them by category, which is doubly informative because then you can track your spendings for a particular purpose — say transport, for example.

For every bill you enter, you can specify a distinctive name, a particular category, the amount (every currency supported), the due date, whether or not the payment is repeated daily/weekly/monthly/annually, the number of times it is set to repeat (this is amazingly helpful if say, you have a 2-year contract with a mobile provider and you need to make monthly payments; Bills can repeat a payment every month 24 times over a period of 2 years) and configure a pre-alert.

The pre-alert is something we’re especially interested it. PoweryBase offers lifelong Push notification pre-alerts for your pending bills. You will never forget to pay another bill again!

As soon as you’re done creating a new bill (or editing an existing one), Bills will automatically sync with the server, updating the data to your account online. Absolutely amazing. I haven’t seen another app which does so much in such a simple yet elegant graphical interface.

Bills ~ On your table can be bought from the App Store for $1.99. A free version will be announced soon. However, in the traditional MakeUseOf spirit; we have 3 promo codes to give away to our readers.

To win one, simple tell us how Bills ~ On your table will change the way you manage your payments. Type it down in the comments and we will pick a winner on Friday. Make sure to fill in your email address so that we can get in touch with you.

Lastly, if you have tried Bills ~ On your table, we want to hear that you think about it. The developer is continually working on the app and suggestions are always appreciated. So voice out!

I currently have a three part system for remembering when to pay bills. I use Mint.com to remind me when bills are due, my wife has a calendar to pay all of our bills that require checks, and then I launch a bookmark tab set within Firefox to check/pay all my online bills that are due. I could use the ability of one system immediately. The calendar view could help me budget better and have a better impression of my current finances. Basically I could make use of Bills ~ On Your Table today.

Can I go just one month without getting hit with a late fee?!
    Please?!

  • Durgesh

If I can get hands on this on my iPhone, I will not have to go to my desktop for checking and paying my bills. I don’t have to leave my sofa(and TV) to pay bill. Oh that would be great!!!!

  • Mamta

As a busy mom of two highly rambunctious boys I never make it into the office as often as I should to be “on time” with my bills. Since I am lost without my iPhone this would be a great way to not have to pay any more late fees. I could use this app. . . like yesterday!!! :-)

Bills is the perfect Iphone application for me to be able to manage my way of living. I am a single, IT infrastructure consultant living in Pretoria and working in Johannesburg. Travelling from city to city daily and having a heavy work schedule I always lose track of making important and necessary payments. My iphone is always by my side so having Bills will be an awesome iphone application and make my life easier and manageable. Bills sounds like the solution to my nightmares.

I’m finding it difficult to keep my bills under control since my divorce. Hopefully this will let me get a handle on that nightmare!

I’ve actually had my cable turned off twice due to not paying my Comcast bill. Rather than pay attention to my due dates, I simply schedule the bill to be paid [ at a later date ] the same day the bill arrives in the mail. Comcast, without my permission, moved me to paperless billing. Since the bill didn’t come… I didn’t pay it… Next thing I knew I couldn’t get on the internet OR watch TV!

Sounds like this app could help prevent that from ever happening again!

  • Grant

It’s strange– I pay late fees on bills all the time, not because I don’t have the money, but because I am so forgetful!

If I had the Bills app, I know it would be a lot easier to keep track of all those random payments. Come on makeuseof, I need this!

I’m horrible with my bills. Always forget to pay and get into trouble once in a while. This would help me greatly get back on track and help remind me when I need to pay a bill and never be late again!

My wife and I are performing musicians AND have full-time jobs, making it difficult to remember bill payments and due dates. This program could really help us out!

I must be the must disorganized person alive, this would help a ton!

Am I reading this right? “Bills can repeat a payment every month 24 times over a period of 2 years” – does that mean that the app actually makes payments for you?

If I am reading that right, BoA allows us to do bill payment for free online already. However, if it is a simple notification application I could see its value.

I could not find the answer to this in the article or on their site.

      It’s actually just a reminder.

  • John47

Ok, so normally I am a very responsible adult, managing my work responsibilities along with a crazy home schedule with two children under the age of 5, one of whom has special needs and tons of outside therapy appointments. But here it is: I simply cannot seem to manage to get all of my bills out on time every month. There’s always one or two that seem to go awry, and then the next month I get late fees and threatening letters. So, something like this App would probably help me a lot and allow me to extend the functionality of my iPod Touch a bit more. Thanks for the consideration.

I’d use it to track business expenses.

I have been the one in our marriage to prepare and pay the bills for 25.5 years. I would love to have this app so my husband would be able to also know when to pay the bills!

Am I too late to get in on the free goods??

At least MakeUseOf won’t charge me a late fee. ;-) And this is why I need the app: I’m terrible about remembering to pay, but I’m great about carrying my iPhone with me everywhere I go.

How am I supposed to build my credit score if I can’t remember what time of day it is! Let alone what day of the month! I need some serious help. I need this app!

  • Veronica

No more expiring domains, hosting, late fees, interest charges, phone & cable disconnection…

I’d REALLY appreciate a beautiful iPhone app that’ll help me take care of these boring, time-sensitive, frustrating, bill paying stuff!!
