This is *so* awesome; ty so much for this article. I had NO idea about this amazing feature of Firefox and now I can't live without it!

My quick searches are for Amazon, IMDB, Wikipedia, Huffington Post, Copyblogger, Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Make Use Of (I'm a writer/blogger, in case you couldn't tell ;) ).

I can't thank you enough for turning me on to this great & so helpful feature!!

One more: I discovered this works for the tinyurl.com "make tiny" box, too. So now I can type "tiny" and then a copied URL, and bang, it's tinyurl'ed.

I was playing around with this and reading the comments, and I found a great way to search all CraigsList sites at once:

1. I setup a keyword search for Google, but I called it "CraigsList" and used "cl" as the keyword.
2. Bookmarks >> "CraigsList", except right-click the bookmark and select "Properties".
3. Change this part of the URL - q=%s - to this - q=site:craigslist.org%20%s - and click OK.

Now I can type "cl ipod" in the awesome bar and get every hit for "ipod" on every CraigsList site there is.

This is basically a slight twist on DHunter's comment, but with all due respect I thought it wasn't explained well enough for a relative noob like me, so I thought it was worth posting again.

I can't live without quick search. I probably have 3 dozen quick searches.

Google, IMDB, Delicious, Wikipedia, Amazon, Thesaraus, Answers.com, Zip Codes, Digg, YouTube, Weather.com, Amazon MP3...the list goes on and on. I amazingly have most of them memorized too.

I like often like to set up quicksearches that use google's site searches + I'm Feeling Lucky feature. Just take whatever bookmark, right-click-->properties, then edit this link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:makeuseof.com%20%s&btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky to change makeuseof.com to whatever domain name you want. Add in a Name and a Keyword and you're done!

I find this type of search incredibly useful for en.wikipedia.org, imdb.com, last.fm, rottentomatoes.com. You can do this without the I'm Feeling Lucky of course for other sites. The key is that %s is where the search term goes.

I keep thinking I should set these up, but the obsessive-compulsive part of me points out that the rest of my searches are in the search bar, and that just wouldn't be right, so I haven't yet, hehe. XD

Additionally, you can use the CyberSearch addon to do the very same thing, right from within the "AwesomeBar."

You can simply assign new keywords, much the same as you do in the technique you've just outlined - the difference is that you do search and see actual results directly within the AwesomeBar, with the added bonus of seeing thumbnail previews next to their respective results.

See the tutorial here.
