Find Out What’s Hot On Wikipedia With Wikirank

wikirank-logoThere’s a great new service called Wikirank that keeps you abreast of the latest hot topics on Wikipedia. Wikirank has charts for the number of visits that have taken place on Wikipedia article pages.

On the font page, you’ll see an interesting comparison for the traffic that has taken place on pages over the course of the past month.  For instance, when I first visited Wikirank, they had a comparison to see who is the most popular on Wikipedia among John, Paul, George or Ringo.

You can also search for whatever topic you like.  As you begin to type into the search bar, you will see a list of article pages appear in a dropdown.  Just select the page you want from the dropdown when you see the page you’re looking for.

When you are viewing the visitor statistics for a particular Wikipedia article, you can easily add new topics to compare the traffic between multiple articles.  I found it interesting that the Linux Wikipedia page is more popular than the Windows and OS X pages.

I'm a fairly typical geek that spends hours in front of a computer monitor at work as well as at home. I also enjoy putting together nifty tools and gadgets. I aspire to some day be able to make a living as a geek, perhaps blogging, consulting, or both. Although I've been blogging in some form or another since the turn of the millennium, I really didn't "take it seriously" until I created WealthBoy late in 2007. Recently I decided that blogging about technology and the geeky stuff I enjoy might suit me better, so I created GeekLad. Developing both blogs has been a great learning experience in search engine optimization, and I hope to some day become an SEO expert.
