I tried some songs of this discussion, like “When I Come Around” and “Over the Rainbow” in the melody finder The MelodyCatcher resulting in several playable MIDI files and their sources. For that same purpose you can also play the melody you remember on the virtual piano keyboard of that site. You can even find quite some oldies.

it couldn’t even recognize november rain when I held the mic up to a speaker playing the song. Then it failed to recognize 3 other songs I tried to whistle (and I can whistle half decent). Not impressed

Looks…it’s very simple:
“you’re” stands for “you are”. “your” doesn’t.

“they’re” stands for “they are”. “their” doesn’t.

For over a year now, I’ve been trying to find an old instrumental. It was frequently over-played on mainstream radio, back in the early ’70s, but I think it was from the late ’60s.

Not one of these sites or the various iPhone apps has ever been able to identify it. I’m using this song as a benchmark. Until one of these apps can identify it, they are all useless.

I wish I could remember the name of the song, it’s driving me crazy!
