Children are not very good at learning faces right away. Often they have to look at faces many times and continuously before they learn who the person is. But there are times when you might want children to pick up on faces quickly. For example, if your child is really young and you leave them in daycare, you might want your child to easily recognize people in charge of the daycare.

To accomplish this you can use an iOS application that aims to help your children recognize faces and voices; this app is called Family Flashcards.

Family Flashcards is a smartphone application for iOS devices. The app is sized at nearly 12 MB and is compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad devices that are running version 5.0 or later of iOS. Using the application you can help children memorize faces by various practice exercises and quizzes. You can select pictures of a person have your children go over them. You can help them identify faces in the beginning and then you can leave them to complete their quizzes themselves.

Gradually children will begin recognizing the face of a person from different angles, not just one particular angle. Another feature offered by this application is that it helps young children recognize voices of people. In the same way that the face-learning process works, the app has people record phrases into the application; the child is then played these phrases and the picture of the person who said them is shown.

Through quizzes their recognition of voices is tested and they slowly learn whose voice it is that they are hearing.

You can get Family Flashcards from the iTunes store for $0.99. But the app’s developers have generously provided MakeUseOf reader with free promo codes. The app’s developers are offering 10 promo codes to the first 10 commenters on this post.

This looks great, we have a little daughter and live in a different country to our families, so think apps like this are great way for her to get to know the family.
