Facebook has just announced that businesses who have created timeline applications will now be able to offer their viewers more per update. Application creators will now be able to add an extra action link option to each update, which they can customise according to their unique needs.

For users of Facebook, this means all of those updates you see will become far more useful to you. Timeline applications will feel much more integrated because of the new feature. For instance, when you see a friend check into a venue on Foursquare, you can “Save this place” to your Foursquare account for acting on later.

The customisable action links will make user interactions between social networks and products even more fluid and viral. We’ll soon see more people saving recipes our other friends have just made, re-pinning pictures from Pinterest, adding books to to-read lists on Goodreads and adding movies to “Want to Watch” lists on Flixter all from within Facebook. It will happen fast and furiously – as quickly as people see the updates themselves.
