but if u change ur email address back, will that solve the problem of all your non-fb email account (eg gmail) address book addresses being changed to fb addresses?

it sucks and im pissed off. i did not give fb permission to f f with my gmail address book. i havent used fb since this happened and will suggest to google a class action lawsuit.

You’re right, Tim! I spoke too soon when I just quickly looked at my settings and saw that my “normal” email was still listed there. I didn’t notice til now that my Facebook email had indeed been made the “primary” email. So sorry for the confusion! I was a bit too eager with my comment. Next time I’ll look twice before I “speak”! :)

That’s odd, sure it didn’t change your publicly displayed email and you’re not checking your primary email?

Have a look on your Timeline/Profile under Contact Info. Interesting if yours wasn’t changed!

There’s no such thing as a “Facebook email account”. Messages sent to your facebook.com email address appear as Facebook Messages.

I’ve found that by default, the facebook.com email account is set to be visible by “Only Me”. In other words, people are seeing it on their own Profiles, but it’s not visible to anyone else. I’ve made my facebook.com email address publicly visible and listed on my Timeline (my real email address is Friends only) just to see how much spam I really get.

I never liked having my personal email address listed on Facebook for anyone to see,I prefer using the Facebook email address on Facebook. They can handle the Spam from this account. I agree that they handled it an a highhanded manner but if you don’t like this don’t use the service. We’re nothing but a product for Facebook to sell and eventually people who don’t want to pay that price for a Social Network will move on.
