Don’t you just hate it when you’re bored? Whether you’re waiting for something and have nothing to do during that time or if you don’t have anything planned, a good game for your mobile device can save you from such misery. If you’re in such a situation, and you like Tower Defense or other similar games, you may want to look at a game which combines Tower Defense with war machinery.
About Robo Defense
Robo Defense is a very interesting version of the classic Tower Defense game. With Robo Defense, it’s machines against machines with plenty of ultra-high powered artillery. The game is extremely customizable in terms of difficulty, so you should enjoy the game very much as it shouldn’t be too difficult for anyone.
On first launch, you’ll be presented with the game’s main screen, which offers a couple of different options. From here, you can start a new game, continue one which you left off as Robo Defense lets you save games in progress to continue at a later time, as well as look at your earned in-game achievements and reward points.
The achievements allow you to brag to your friends about how far you’ve got in the game.
The rewards page will let you upgrade different aspects of gameplay, including items such as stronger bullets and faster reloading of rockets.
It’s very easy to learn how the game works. Depending on the map, enemies will usually come from one side of the map (although on some they come from both sides) and will want to cross the map to reach the other side. You lose a heart for every enemy that you allow to reach the other side. In order to prevent them from reaching the other side, you can set up different gun and rocket towers which will shoot at the enemies, lowering their health until they are killed.
To set up a tower, simply tap on one of the three available ones in the lower right corner of the screen, and drag it to where you’d like to place it. Besides the gun and rocket towers, there’s also a special tower which will temporarily slow down any enemies it hits, but it does not inflict damage. Also be aware that you cannot place towers in such a configuration so that the enemy doesn’t have a path to reach the other side. This isn’t allowed, as the game will tell you it’s impossible to place a tower where you want it to go. For maps which have multiple paths leading to the other side, all of them can be blocked by towers except for one.
In order to set up a tower, you must have enough money to buy them. You can earn money by killing enemies as they try to cross your map, and you can purchase a tower once you have enough. You can also tap on a tower and occasionally buy upgrades for them so that they are faster, stronger, etc. Therefore, money is the factor that prevents you from going on an ultimate shopping spree of hundreds of towers at once.
Ideally, however, if you have collected enough money over time, you should have a winding path zigzagging around your map to be most effective, so that the enemy will take the most amount of time to get to the other side, allowing you to inflict the most amount of damage.
There are many waves that you must fight off before you can win the game. If you successfully lasted through all the waves and still have at least one heart left, then you completed that level and get the appropriate accomplishment and reward points. To progress in the game, you will need to increase the level at which you play the game, and repeat the whole process. Don’t let it get too boring, however, so switch which maps you’re using every once in a while.
The game is only available for Android devices. You can find the game by searching for “robo defense” in the Google Play Store, or by following this link on your device’s or desktop’s browser. You can also get the full, paid version for $2.99.
Just like the last couple of tower defense games I’ve reviewed, I absolutely love this one. It has a great mix of graphics, action, strategy, speed, and much more. It can also get very addictive after playing it for a while, and it’s great that you can save a game and continue it at a later time. If you’re bored or are interested in Tower Defense-type games, check this out.
