[MakeUseOf Poll] Recent news reports have shown that both iPhone and Android phones have been collecting the location data of their users. Ostensibly it could be useful for law enforcement and rescue operations, but many users feel... Read More . The results say that most of you hate the fact that this information is collected and you’re looking forward to a hack or law to prevent it from occurring.

We collected 217 votes divided like this: 39% hate location data collection and are looking for a hack or law to stop it; 24% don’t like it much, but can see merit in collecting the data; 22% realise that it doesn’t matter whether they like it or not as they’re never going to do anything about it; 10% love the data collection and are glad someone is keeping tabs on them; while 6% hate it and will ditch their phones, vowing to never trust Apple or Google ever again.

Full results and this week’s poll after the jump.

As you can see, the bulk of respondents dislike the phone location data collection and are looking for a way to stop it.

This week’s poll question is: How Many Email Addresses Do You Have?

Ads by Google

Most of us have been collecting email addresses for a while. But how many does the average geek have? There’s the personal email, your work email, the old email address you got when Hotmail was still cool, the aliases you set up for your domain (including all the ways people misspell your name), etc. Just how many email addresses exist today that would get a message to you?

So, why so many email addresses? Or why so few? Especially if you’re hovering around the extremes of this poll, please let us know why!

I'm not sure how you would count giving a different email addy for every online service I use but then having them all direct to a single gmail inbox.

I have a yahoo for spam, a hotmail for personal use, gmail for logging into their services, a couple attached to a website I'm using to test websites, one professional address for job hunting and similar (which is now also a spam one), one I used for offers/surveys, and one work address.

So seven, if I'm not forgetting any.

I use gishpuppy.com to create site-specific email addresses that forward to my main email account at gmail. If I ever start getting spam, I know where it's coming from, and I have the option of terminating that email address, and never receiving spam from that compromised account. In the last 4years, I have close to 350 addresses.

I've got around 30 ids. About 15, I haven't checked regularly. The others I use regularly. The most used ones are my own domain one, and the other's my GMail id.

I have noticed some sites and forums are insisting on registration to READ the posts, so I keep 1 account just for these. This is also the one I give to the kids for the games sites. I have another main GMail address for my main important email which also collects mail from my ISP and then pushes it to my phone. I also managed to get the address I wanted from gmx.com mail but mainly use their file storage for bookmark & settings backups using a mapped drive.

1 GMail 1 Yahoo & 1 hotmail. Yahoo isn't very attractive, I keep hotmail for beta testing from ms and for the large amount of skydrive space, I primarily use GMail because it allows me to forward the messages to my phone via sms.

I think it's really pathetic how these businesess ask for your email info just to send you all this spam junk. I hope they all go bankrupt wasting their money on it because if they ever gain an ounce of intelligence to know that any moron would know enough to give an address that they hardly if ever check to avoid the junk all together, they would realize they might as well use the money on a life-time's worth of coke and speed and party it up and they'de probably last longer. P.S. enough with selling our info to telemarketers with phone operators based in India, who still don't know how to speak and ounce of understandable English, Give it UP!

I have a gmail account and an account at my university. That's two. One is for personal stuff, the other is for academic related e-mails.

I use 4 regularly. I feel that there is a legit reason for each of them.

Do you really want the answer, or are you just going to tease us with the question? LOL There's no poll. I've tried it in 3 browsers and there's no poll application. So, it's mystery quiz, is it? :) I have 12 persional and 5 from work. No, I'm not kidding.
