Game Informer just revealed the cover for their next issue. Why is MakeUseOf writing a news story about the cover of a video game magazine? Because the cover revealed that the folks at Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda are making Elder Scrolls Online. No, you do not need to adjust your reading glasses, it’s true they are finally making an Elder Scroll massively multiplayer online role-playing game (or MMORPG for short).

The article from Game Informer did not say much about the game, but it was more than enough to make a few people jump out of their chairs with joy. The game will take place a millennium before the events of Skyrim. The daedric prince Molag Bal is trying to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm, and it is up to the players in the game to stop him.

The game will feature three factions, each trying to take over parts of the world. These three factions will engage in player versus player battles. As far as more details go, we will have to wait until the June issue of the Game Informer hits shelves to find out.

Director Matt Firor had this to say about how serious they are taking this game: β€œThe entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchiseβ€œ.

The game is slated for release sometime in 2013. Many people are more excited for this game than they have been for any other game to date. Are you excited for an Elder Scrolls MMORPG? Let us know in the comments!
