It was developed in an academic context and originally conceived mainly for teachers who wish to create an educational podcast for their students. In my opinion you got the point: Podcast Generator was not developed in order to “compete” with mainstream blog platforms such as Wordpress, but to offer a simple alternative (asking for minimum system requirements – that’s why it doesn’t need MySQL) in order to publish a podcast.
