Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages; welcome to another fine edition of the Best of Reddit. This week we have a load of informative, entertaining and downright crazy stuff from the wide world of Reddit. Maybe you are new to Reddit. Maybe you just missed these in your Reddit travels. Maybe you saw all of these and you just want to tell me how there is a million things I could have found that were better than the ones I choose. Either way, I am glad you are here, and I hope the Reddit awesomeness helps brighten your day a little.
On the agenda for today, we have some incredibly dumb IAmA action, some video game nonsense, a Reddit of the week and more. It is time to kick back, relax and get ready to be entertained by the best of the crazy stuff Reddit has to offer.
IAmA with Two Wipeout Competitors
For those out of the loop, Wipeout (Wikipedia) is a show where contestants have to traverse an obstacle course while trying their best not to get hurt. It is pretty dumb, but incredibly funny. Well on Reddit, a competitor who did not do very well on the show started an IAmA where he talked about the experience and shared some funny pictures of him face planting. It was quite interesting, and it eventually led to another IAmA with someone who had a very different experience on the show.
Dorky Kong recently won the Wipeout show, and was inspired by the first IAmA to do his own. It is quite interesting reading both and seeing how the experience differs between someone who was eliminated fairly early and someone who went on to win the whole show.
Some Old Fashioned Ingenuity from r/Gaming
A Reddit user by the name of Y_U_No_Kill decided to hook up his Samsung Note to a PS3 controller. He shared some awesome pictures of the experience and I must say it looks awesome. He also gave a quick breakdown of how he did it in this comment, and posted a link to a more detailed guide, which you can find in this comment.
Of course, it looks ridiculous having a PlayStation 3 controller strapped to your little tablet, but nonetheless, it still looks obscenely fun and it would be an awesome way to get in some quality gaming on the go.
How Has Technology Changed Your Life?
A woman who just turned 71 years old started this thread asking Reddit users how technology changed their lives. She briefly describes her story on how she discovered technology and asks Reddit how it has affected them. Of course, the highest upvoted comments are typical jokes, but if you dig through the thread, there are some interesting comments from Reddit users. I was particularly fond of this one about how tech has changed dating.
If you want to read some of the older and younger Redditors talk about how they discovered technology, and how it has changed their life over the years, this incredibly interesting thread is worth sifting through.
How Do These People Get Through The School System?
I stumbled across this interesting thread while browsing r/history. The original post talks about how a coworker was reading a book on the holocaust and when she finished she asked if this stuff really happened. According to RevStevening (the OP), “This is a woman in her mid thirties who went to schools where it is in the curriculum.”
This lead to some interesting discussion about some of the things people do not know, even though they have made it through school. Reddit user Larsga had some awesome stories about working at an adult education office at an army camp in Norway. Check out his comments here. It is quite interesting to see how sometimes the school system lets people through without basic skill development.
Subreddit of the Week
Allow me to introduce you to r/Creepy. We all love looking at pictures of memes, but every now and then it’s nice to break away from that and look at something a little different. R/Creepy most certainly scratches that itch with some of the most off-putting images on the Internet. Look at r/Creepy right before you go to sleep with the lights off and thank me in the morning.
We hope you enjoyed this interesting content from Reddit. Feel free to share your thoughts on this content or suggest some of your own Reddit threads that you think are particularly worthwhile.
