Download the Software you Need with WinLibre

Back in November, I wrote about essential programs for your computer. But there is actually a better program out there that bundles together all of the best software for your everyday needs.

Using the free French-based WinLibre, you can now download and install multiple programs with a single click :

All of the programs are free and includes gems such as Firefox, Thunderbird, GIMP and Open Office. You just have to choose what programs you want by ticking their boxes and WinLibre will download and install them on your computer for you.

A program like this would be useful for either computer beginners who need a recommendation on what to use, or for someone who has just bought a new computer and is looking for a lazy way to re-install their software. All of the programs are helpfully categorized so you can see at a glance what type of program is which.

The site also looks as if they are shortly planning to sell disks with the WinLibre program on it. Personally I don’t see the point of the expense of buying a disk when you can download the program off the net in an instant.

Do you know of any similar programs to WinLibre where you can download multiple programs with a single click? Let us know.

yea, but U3 only comes on some USBs, and most of the programs aren’t free.
I would suggest PortableApps.com. It contains a handsome list of free apps.
