Many thanks, I think all the people who say it won’t let you delete the file did what i did initially and moved the folder not the file to desktop. When i did this it let me delete the file. I should learn to read. ;)

i have a macbook air 2012 11 inch running 10.8.2 and a canon EOS 20d. This did not work for me. When I drag the installer to my desktop and than try to open it – it says that it cannot find a bunch of software or original cd and to insert a new cd rom. Help …please !~

I was having trouble as the new versions of the EOS software aren’t setup the same way. So, I downloaded the 10.5 version, followed the instructions (including dragging to the desktop) then installed the newest version. It is working perfectly for me on a rMBP with 10.8.

Thanks for the tip on updating the Canon EOS Utility: the disc that I just received was over one year old and would not run on my iMac. There was a difference btwn your directions and the updater–once Canon’s updater was on the desktop, I just had to run it and not delve into the other processes in order for it to run on my OS.

IT WORKS! Just did this for a Mac OS Snow Leopard and was successful.
Two tricks:
Download the older update (2011)
Newer updates don’t have the SDI.bundle folder
Drag the update installer directly onto the desk top
This allows you to delete the “update.plist”

Hey Josh

I dragged the software on my desktop, but when I try to launch it, I get (translated from french) something like : impossible to find the software to update. Insert the CD rom supplied with the canon product then click “launch the search on the CD”

My first thought was that Canon found a way to prevent your finding, but I don’t know much about all this stuff. Anyway so I’m in a bit of a deadlock here… Couldn’t find any similar case in the comments… Thanks for your help

I get to first resources folder, but then i do not see the SDI.bundle. searching with spotlight also doesn’t find it, nor setting the hidden files to visible.
what to do? i have brand new mbp retina mountain lion & canon 5d mark ii and no prev. installed canon software.
