Staying motivated to keep exercising and dieting can be incredibly difficult. We’ve seen apps such as MyFitnessPal (which is featured on our Best iPhone Apps Page) that make it easy for you to log your exercise and food intake, but it does not really do anything to remind you and keep you motivated. Knowing what you’ve already done is certainly useful, and for some people, just seeing the result can be enough to keep them fired up and working, but others need to be motivated and reminded to get out there and do their exercise.
Well don’t worry, there is an app that makes it easier for you to stay motivated and reminded. The app, called My Personal Trainer, will remind you to stick with your food and exercise goals so you never miss a workout again. Consistency is key when starting an exercise program, and this app helps make sure that you stick with your plan so you can start seeing results faster.

When you first open the app, you will see a screen that is broken down into five sections. These are diet, exercise, self, service, and devotion. Diet and exercise are available with the app from the beginning, the other three are available through in-app purchases. With that in mind, we are going to look at the diet and exercise section, since those are the ones you get free.
The nutrition section of the diet tab allows you to set up reminders to stay under a certain amount of calories. You can also set up reminders for when you need to eat breakfast and for three times of day that you want the app to remind you to avoid unhealthy snacks. You also choose whether you want to increase or decrease your calorie intake and by how much.
The second part of the diet tab comes in the form of hydration. In here, you set how much water you want to drink throughout the day. You also pick nine different times of day for the app to remind you to drink water. This makes it easy to meet your water intake goals.
The exercise tab is divided into three sections. There are cardio, strength and flexibility, and custom plans. Clicking one of these brings you to a screen to set up reminders for those types of workouts. You choose which days of the week you plan to do those types of exercises and at what time the app should remind you to do them. You can also get more detailed breakdowns of the individual exercises that will be part of the plan.
Once you have everything entered, you can go to the schedule page and see what you need to do each day. It looks similar to a to-do list app like Wunderlist. As you go, you check off the things you’ve completed, so you know when you’ve had successes.
You can go to the results page and see when you’ve done what you’re supposed to. It shows you the percentage of success, so you can try to improve that and meet your fitness goals faster. If you click one of the results you can see a list of all the days you successfully completed your goals.
Overall, this is a great app for remembering to stick with your nutrition and fitness goals. It is incredibly easy to use and comes with plenty of reminders to keep you on task.
