No John, it's not possible to have separate RB for each hard drive. I don't think that's it's possible through any third party app also.

Does anyone know if, In WindowsXP, it's possible to configure multiple completely independent Recycle bins, one per hard drive? Although you can specify the space allocation on a per-drive basis, if you click on the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop, it shows all deleted files across all drives. As I'm moving to a separation of program (C:) and data (D:) files, I'd like to have separate Recycle Bins to match.

I've Googled, but can't find an answer (though many mistakenly think that the per-drive space allocation also means independent bins - it doesn't).

One other one, If you hold down shift while deleting, you'll bypass the recycle bin completley, use with caution.
Also note deleting files off of network drives do not go into your local recycle bin.

And here's a good recycle bin compainion...
Restoration
Restore files which are deleted from the recycle bin or deleted while holding down the Shift key by mistake.
Conversely, this program has another function that makes it almost impossible to restore all deleted files.
You can use it after deletion of confidential documents, embarrassing files and so on.

FWIW, I agree. At the same time, I have 'undo' in the Windows Explorer toolbar which makes it easy to retrieve a just-deleted file. The truth is that I rarely use it. As usual, much depends on the habits of an individual user.

Hi Bill,
My personal opinion is that thought the confirmations are an irritant, they do serve as safety net. Of course, even after clicking delete, one can restore the file from the bin.

Thank you. I have responded to the do-you-really-want-to-delete for many years now, never having taken the time to research how to avoid it. What a relief.

Hiding and restoring the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop is much easier in Vista and 7 with the "Change Desktop Icons" features.
