a lot of these tools only count up/down
useful to have a countdown to a date/time
like “compact timer” by Olsson

I have found this to be a perfect tool to make use of Merlin Mann’s (10+2)*5 procrastination hack.

Excellent website, the design is no nonsense which is perfect for not getting off task and focusing on your work “dashes”.

FYI – can abbreviate using min and sec

Wish there was a way to manipulate the font size – I like to put it in a small window in the corner.

I use a simple Open Source Java application, ThisTime. It sits in the notification area and allows you to create multiple count-up and count-down timers (as well as multiple digital clocks). It also runs off a single .jar file so you can run it off your USB key.
