If you lose or upgrade your iPhone the first thing you worry about are your iPhone contacts. Restoring your contacts manually would take forever and is impractical. Since iPhone doesn’t offer a default way to manage your contacts from a PC, there are alternative apps that fill this void. One such app for managing your iPhone contacts is CopyTrans Contacts.
It lets you securely back up your iPhone contacts to your Windows PC so that you can easily export them to your new iPhone or restore them in case your iPhone is stolen or damaged. To try it out, install the software on your PC and connect your iPhone. Once connected it will detect your device and display the contacts.
Manage your contacts right from your PC – edit, delete, add new contacts, edit/create groups etc. To back up all of the contacts on your PC, click “Export selected” and click on “Save your address book” to export your iPhone contacts in *.vcf format into a folder on your PC. Moreover, it offers a bunch of alternative export options – you can transfer your contacts to an Android or Blackberry device, Gmail, Outlook or even export them into Excel (.xls) format.
To restore your contacts (to another iPhone) you simply have to import your previously backed up contacts by selecting the option “Import contacts” in the program.
While we focused mainly on the program’s iPhone import/export function in this post, it also lets you import and manage your SMS messages, calendars, notes and bookmarks. The program is free but is limited to 50 actions. To get more actions you will have to either share it online (Twitter, Facebook, email) or you can buy it for $13.
