        Oh, also - not trying to promote my old article, but I just found another cool app which would have been useful when I was writing that article about reducing menu bar clutter:

        It was exactly what I was looking for while I was writing that post, but unfortunately only found now. I think it's relatively new.
        It's a bit like this app, but better:

        Broomstick hacks the icon files permissions and only works on certain apps. Bartender works on almost any app and is free until the beta period ends. I don't know if the beta versions will still work after that, but it's worth a try.
