I agree ... usually problem occurs from the consumer's side. However, it's not uncommon for companies to have misleading rules / regulations. Plus you get a complicated, 20 page long 'Terms and Conditions' documents.

Once, I had a 2-year mobile contract with O2. Apparently the only way I could end it and stop it from automatically renewing itself is by sending a written cancellation letter at least 3 month before the contract end date. Obviously, I had no idea about this 3 month deadline and ended with another extra year plus a 200 EUR fine for complaining about automatic contract renewal and refusal to pay. :-)

I was looking at the 'RipoffReport' website, and I have to say that 90% of the 'scams' listed on that website are at no fault by the companies. People are complaining that by their own fault, they missed deadlines, missed requirements, had to pay a re-stocking fee or are 'getting sold service plans while waiting in line'.

Um...the last time I checked, you are responsible for meeting posted deadlines, reading the requirements & if you don't like something & want to return it, well, not much you can do about it.

I agree that some companies have better customer service than other places, and are willing to 'bend the rules' (re-stocking fees/deadlines, etc), but expecting companies is a little ridiculous.

Yours truly,
Customer Service Manager from Massachusetts
