There are a lot of converters now and I like TuneCab, it has many features such as audio conversion, video conversion, extract sound from video, remove DRM, download and convert video from YouTube etc. Easy to use all in one software!

Check out through some file converters here. I am pretty sure there are some that can handle mkv files.

I have been using AVS Video Tools software for quite some time and honestly think it is one of the best and easiest to use. This is a great review and yes, it will convert just about any video format.

Hello JL

First, reinstall the application and try to repair AVS files:

Close AVS Video Converter and all other running applications. Then Start > All Programs > AVS4YOU > Repair

I bought this for converting mkv files….bad idea. Doesn’t work although it says it supports matroska files. Tech support wants you to spend your time once you’ve already spent your money to try helping them fix it…What is this? Beta software????

I know most DVD ripping programs also require a shrinking program, I want to back up my movies to a 500g external drive and would like to be able to put more than 90 movies onto that… also about how long does it take to rip a DVD (100minute movie)

True, choosing the right one is not easy. But, if you’re just looking for something to handle basic conversion operations (i.e. from Flash to .AVI) than it’s better to go with one of the free ones.

AVS offers easy-to-use UI and powerful features. There are many similar programs online provide same functions like video conversions, audio conversions… It is very hard to choose for users, isn’t it?
