Cortana can do lots of awesome tasks in Windows 10. From looking up information quickly to changing system settings without digging through menus, voice control with Cortana is quite useful.

If you often use Cortana's services, you probably know that you can enable the "Hey, Cortana" voice keyword to search instantly. Those who like to tweak everything might prefer to change this phrase. Using an app called MyCortana, you can do just that.

MyCortana will run instantly once you launch it; you don't have to install anything. Once you open it, click the Settings button to add some keywords. You can add up to ten phrases that will activate Cortana in the same way that "Hey, Cortana" does.

Perhaps you could add some movie references here, such as "Go Go Gadget" or "Jarvis." Or, you could just rename Cortana to something else, and say "Dear Julie" to wake her. If you can't think of anything, try something really silly, like "Pretty Pickles."

Note that in our testing, one-word wake phrases didn't seem to work as reliably as those with a couple of words. Everything we placed as a wake word did work, even "Um."

Cortana will only respond to your custom phrases if MyCortana is running, so check the Run at Startup box to let the app run every time you boot your computer. If you have multiple Windows 10 devices, this app should help you prevent them all from responding to one "Hey, Cortana" call.

Did you know that Cortana can sync your Android phone's notifications to your PC?
